Basketball Since 1936, Men's Basketball has been a one sided-affair, with the united states losing just two games, both to the former soviet union. Women's competition was introduced in 1976.
Women's basketball hasn't been quite such a one-sided affair. Since 1976, the gold medals have been divided between the US, the Soviet Union and, after the break-up of the Soviet Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States. Australia and Brazil are also the strong teams in the Olympic basketball as they have won the silver and bronze in the Olympic.
