Former Ice Skater Champion Performing again

Michelle Kwan is undisputed World Champion of all times as she has five times World Champion title and has also two time Olympic Champion title. Ice skating is a sport that can be graceful and fun depending on how the skater portrayed it. More importantly, to actually show the various gestures be it graceful or fun or even a mixture requires a certain level of skills. The skater has to do it so confidently and yet so enjoyably that can entertain the audience. Michelle Kwan has it all on the ice skating ring. After some time of retiring into the scenes, she will be back with a performance in Singapore. As a preview, she had actually performed for a short time at the ice skating ring where fans were there to catch a glimpse of this ice skating star.

Mao Asada is the current World Champion again

Despite losing the final to Kim Yu Na the most prominent figure skater now, Mao Asada came back at the recent World Championship with a gold. Kim Yu Na won the silver. Asada, who also won the title in 2008, finished with 197.58 points, almost seven in front of South Korea's Kim. Kim this time did not perform to her best as she was 20 points below what she had scored at the Olympics.

Besides the Women's skating, Japan also won at the Men's skating event. Sometimes in competition is like that. It is not that the athlete is not good, it is just whether he can be consistent at the competitions especially when they are pretty near to each other.

A look at the commemorative coins to celebrate the joy of Kim Yu Na.

The Koreans are really supporting their most popular figure in Korea that they are making commemorative coins on her to celebrate her gold medal. She is like the pride of her country. Sometimes, achievements are a milestone to athletes but without support of the people, the medal and achievement probably may not be that of a bigger deal. The people really love Kim Yu Na. It is certainly something for a young teenager.

She has also made history by being the first person to ever win a medal not to mention gold for her country at this event. She has been facing immense pressure from many as she carried a very high expectation to perform and win the gold. After winning the gold medal, she felt totally relieved that a heavy burden has been lifted off from her. Now she is going to enjoy the moment after accomplishing her most important goal in life she said. Next up, it is to see whether she will turn pro in the sport.

There were much spectacular moments at the Winter Olympics with one from the ice dancing arena. The Canadian pair lifted up the the crowds' mood by performing dazzling moments at the ice and more importantly they are the host nation and thus winning and performing well naturally lifted up the crowds' spirits. Scott Moir even said that that he is so happy that he is going to wear the gold even when he is showering.

Another Gold for Korea in speed skating

It is another gold in speed skating for Korean and in total the three golds for Korea are from speed skating. One from the Men's 500m and the other in the 1500m short track speed skating. Some may ask what is the difference between short track speed skating and speed tracking.

Short track speed skating takes place on a 111.12-metre oval track within a hockey rink and the tight corners will make it more difficult for skaters to maintain control. Whereas speed skating takes place on a 400 metre oval ice rink. Short track speed skating has been around for about 100 years and speed skating can be traced back to the 13th century.

In anyway, both types of speed skating are exciting to watch.

New World record set for figure skating at the Olympics

Figure Skating has a new World record set by China couple Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo after they post a score of 76.66 points, breaking mark of 75.36 they set in December. They were once World champions but their best at the Olympics is only two bronzes. This time having the highest score at the start of the game, they now have a shot at getting what they have aimed for - the gold medal.

Their performance was fantastic and not only the judges who recognized but former Olympic champion 2002 David Pelletier of Canada concurred that. Other teams performing were reigning champaions Savchenko and Szolkowy were nearly as good, with 75.96.

More exciting moments will be posted and probably next will feature on another kind of skating known as speed skating another event in the Winter Olympics.

Kim Yu Na and the Winter Olympics

Kim Yu Na the young, promising and one of the best skaters in the world now will be making her debut at the Olympics. It was her first Olympics but many perhaps including herself have high hopes in her in this game. She is pretty well-liked by many people especially her own country people who have voted her as the person of the year with two Korean Presidents behind her at the second and third placings. Even the greater skater Michelle Kwan said that she is a good role model for many of the young skaters around. With great skills and popularity, it speaks why she will perhaps be the most favoured athlete in the coming winter Olympics.
