Boxing An olympic sport since 1904 St Louis Games, Boxing is one of the events to maintain its amatuer status. Eighty Olympic boxers have gone on to become professional champions.


Cuban boxing legend Felix Savon and American Michael Bennett, reigning world champion at that time after Savon and his fellow Cubans walked out of the championships in protest over the standard of judging.
