Kim Yu Na the world skating champion was nominated along with other prominent sports woman such as tennis player Serena Williams, golfer Lorena Ochoa. She seems to be one of the youngest to be nominated in this award by WSF establised by the tennis great Billie Jean King.
The 18-year-old figure skating icon won the Skate America title, the first leg of the World Grand Prix, the Cup of China and later on though she finished second at the Grand Prix final, she managed to triumph at the Four Continents Championships and World Championships.
She is also the first female skater to break 200 points under the new scoring system with her beautiful skating actions on the ice.
