Singapore scores big time at World Cup qualifiers

It has been some time since I want to post about sports scenes. But I was watching Singapore Vs Malaysia today for at the World Cup qualifiers and it was really exciting that I watched on. In the first 30 sec of the match, Malaysia took the opportunity of a missing and slipping header by the defender and shot but was blocked by the goalkeeper. It deflected and the striker shot again and scored this time.

It was really dampened for the Singapore fans as the first goal was put in just 30 sec. But the Singaporeans did not showed any sign of sadness. They pushed on and shortly an equaliser was made by Aleksander Duric, the 40 year old striker when he put in the goal from a nice free kick from his team mate. This striker is fast in his shot and he managed to put in two goals in this match.

When the score was 1-1, a nice and unexpected free kick from the Singapore team made the score to 2-1. Later on, two more goals were put in and all these happened in the first half.

Then a sub player from Malaysia came in and in that instance of few minutes, he scored two goals in! This made the score to be 4-3. The whole match seems to be an on-going exciting scoring period. But Singapore came back with another score to make the win in a convincing style. 5-3 is the final score.

Basically, they play the game their own way and win it beautifully. Besides the spectacular goal moments, the rest of the highlights are pretty interesting to watch too.

Apparently, this game has its roots as far in Japan and Korea too where both males and females actually train and play them. It is interesting to see this game as one can get to see high kicking actions from the team and they usually will amaze the spectators. Just like how Taekwondo surprises the spectators with their high jumping kicking techniques. Still, the Taekwondo matches especially the female games are pretty interesting and exciting to watch. Beach volleyball is another sport that gets the attention. The shades they wear probably made them look cooler to watch.

The Men's team has finally also won a gold medal winning England 3-1. The Women's team which is a World No. 1 team recently by the way continue to perform and won the Gold medal winning the host India 3-0.

The Youth Olympic Games has really featured some very interesting sports that caught my attention. I like the idea of having handball in the game. Handball is actually a very fun and interesting game that is suitable for many people. It is at least something easier to pick up and is a good game to bond everyone. Archery is another game which one may think is boring to watch because there is less action and probably the athletes are also doing something pretty repetitive that make it less interesting but in fact, it can be exciting too! The excitement comes when the archers are really close in their scores and one managed to have a clean perfect 10 shot to clinch the gold medal. Taekwondo is another sports which the athletes have pretty cool attire to put on at the games. What is even cooler are the kicks displayed. The female athletes have shown that girls can be confident and cool yet maintain that certain level of feminine in this contact sport. Equestrian is a sport that shows the bond between animals and humans. Some animals are really good friends of mankind and seeing how the horse in this case together with the athlete performed and overcome the different set of barriers with elegance is another cool sport to watch.

It was an adventurous World Cup match to see when Brazil Vs Holland and when Germany Vs Argentina. Many expected Brazil to win but this year's world cup, Holland show they can win even though they are a relatively new team. The ball is round. Germany have showed that they have superb skills on the field in a way and in the first few minutes of the game, they have started to score. They controlled the ball well and when the opportunity arises, they seized every single one of them and put the goals into the net. It was a splendid quarter final match. This year is the year of the European soccer still. Germany is now the favourite team to win the World Cup but there is always still Spain and Holland. Once again the ball is round.

There are non-stop actions at the World Cup as usual and the Asia teams are always seem to be the very diligent teams striving hard to prove that they can be good at this game. This can be seen at the games they played and one example is South Korea. South Korea is known for good kicking techniques mainly from their national sport Taekwondo but of course it is different from the soccer kicking techniques. The players played very hard at each match as if they only have one chance and they will seize any moments they have.

The European teams always seem to be the more relax ones probably they know they are good at the games and they always play with their set of tactics. European team England is always a favourite among many as Premier League has been successful the past years.

The South America teams are always deem as the teams with great skills. They need not prove that much it seems as their relax mode is sometimes one step way above other teams. Most people however often expect something "sambal" or magical to happen when Brazil the all time favourite champion team is playing.

It was not that easy for the blue team to get its title as it has Liverpool one of the tougher teams at least compared to the next team probably to get the title. Manchester United scored a blast over Totteham 3-1 and that makes them ahead of Chelsea. If they are able to defend their two points difference and of course if Chelsea is unable to perform or hold on their performance like Arsenal, they will probably lose their title to Manchester United.

Arsenal had a chance in the title race but their match last week where they played against Wigan was a shock to many in a way. They were leading 2-0 and Wigan scored 3 goals to end the game with 3-2 at the last 11 minutes. Yes at the last 11 minutes.

For Manchester United, it was one of kind goal for Ryan Giggs as it was his first penalty score in the many years in EPL.

Vettel has once again shown another great performance at the China pole clocking the best time and probably it is partly due to the confidence gain at the Malaysia track. Vettel won the race and he did it by maintaining his gain at the start. He just keeps on leading and gives no chance to the other racers. Now at the China pole, it is going to be another exciting match as many World champions are out there trying to get their titles back and red bull current fast and furious racer will want to continue to prove his skills.

The seven time World Champion is doing well at the practice and has clocked the third fastest timing in the second practice round. Current World Champion Jenson Button was fourth fastest. It looks like Michael still has it there and this time round with the new silver vehicle. His Mercedes team and him seems to work fine and probably that's because the technical guru was with him when he was in Ferrari.

When seven times World Champion Michael Schumacher retired several years back, then made an announcement he will return but pulled out later on and now, he has returned again, this time appears to be for real. At age 41, many would think that he is taking too much risk to join the F1 race, but to him he does not seems to think age is the issue and he still has the drive to win the race.

I like this World Champion as besides having the real skills, he has that sense of humour with him. When asked how it feels and what differs between Ferrari and Mercedes, he said one is red and the other silver. He also said that at the presentation of the new car he felt like a 12-year-old boy. He have grown a little bit since then, but not by much.

The current champions like Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso all seems to hold him at high esteem and probably it will be exciting to see how the former champion challenges himself against the current ones.

It is another gold in speed skating for Korean and in total the three golds for Korea are from speed skating. One from the Men's 500m and the other in the 1500m short track speed skating. Some may ask what is the difference between short track speed skating and speed tracking.

Short track speed skating takes place on a 111.12-metre oval track within a hockey rink and the tight corners will make it more difficult for skaters to maintain control. Figure Skating has a new World record set by China couple Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo after they post a score of 76.66 points, breaking mark of 75.36 they set in December. They were once World champions but their best at the Olympics is only two bronzes. This time having the highest score at the start of the game, they now have a shot at getting what they have aimed for - the gold medal.

Their performance was fantastic and not only the judges who recognized but former Olympic champion 2002 David Pelletier of Canada concurred that. Other teams performing were reigning champaions Savchenko and Szolkowy were nearly as good, with 75.96.

When this match begins my friend and I was watching it and he was telling me the old rivalry between Manchester United and Leeds United. Well Leeds was good but way back then. Later on, the club went into financial distress, start selling off the good players and they just keep dropping from league to another. But they managed to survive still at third division.

It was a match that probably there isn't much excitement as today's Leeds is way below Manchester United standard to be exact 43 places below them. But they have proven otherwise. A injured battled player from Leeds and that single goal made the whole match so much more interesting.

This year there is definitely more sports being featured and I actually find more enjoyment in watching the highlights as there are more unique and interesting moments to watch. Although this year they did not sweep all seven golds for the events they had swept a total of six golds. It was another day of success for the Singapore team as the country still topped the medal tally table with 14 golds together with Vietnam. The ever strong Singapore table tennis team which has swept all seven golds for all events last Sea games continue to be at its best. Even before the competition other teams have mentioned that they are aiming for Silver as they are unlikely to beat the Singapore Team. It was a great start for Singapore at the Sea Games hosted in Laos. Singapore topped the medal tally table with 11 golds ahead of the rest of the countries and these golds came from the usually strong sports of swimming, air rifle shooting, etc. The swimming team bagged 5 golds at the first day and records were broken at the games. The soccer team has also made it into the semi-finals together with host country team after a 0-0 draw. Both teams were very happy as you can seen from the cheers and expression of the crowd and the coaches. More actions will be updated in the next posts as the players played their best at the Sea games. As usual, in this Sea games though I agree it is good that we feature the sports that we are good at to show the support and encouragement, I would also like to have more glimpse of actions of other sports at the games. It is after all the Sea games, not just table tennis, swimming or air rifle shooting.

All is just fun and awesome at the F1 Singapore night race concert. This year the organizer made an interesting move by making the event even more enjoyable, more fun and more memorable with stars and by mean of stars, they are really big stars to come for the F1 Rocks concert.

They even have special games for different bands such as "car" racing for no doubt. It was something simple, probably slightly naive for some but it is always fun to have the children in you some times. It was as usual a day where many fans will gathered to watch the two giants battle against each other and this match between Manchester United and Arsenal have always been a much anticipated one since the early days of English Premier League. Why is this the case? Well probably both are always deemed to be the best and they will always compete to their best to win each other which means a supposedly better match to watch. At the recent Man U versus Arsenal match, Man U won.

This win however was not very convinced by Arsenal themselves as it was an own goal by Arsenal that gave the win away. However though the goal scored by Man u side was a nice one so as the one scored by Arsenal which gave them an initial half time lead.

Later on, Arsenal thought they can make the game 2-2 until the goal was not considered as the player was offside. You probably can confirm the unconvinced Arsenal team when their manager kicked a bottle into the air out of frustration. Usain Bolt has done it again to break another world record for the 200m race with 19.19 sec. This time spectators and viewers can watch him leaping off about some distance from his competitors to win the race. He is not only faster than them by a small margin and that is what makes him win the gold with so much convince.

Of course as usual when someone like him made history, he will be tested for drug and he confidently said he did not and is willing to take the test now and as when. In another event of the 400m men relay, his team has won Gold and that adds to his total gold medals to three.

It is always exciting to watch the 100m sprint run though just for that few seconds, you can see the speed of how some people can run and of that you know, it is already over. Before the race it kinds of build up the excitement and after the race, you will realize that not only a champion is formed but also sometimes a world record can be set.

Usain bolt is one such example of a runner who has done it with 9.69 sec at the Olympics and now with another contender Tyson Gay who has clocked a timing of 9.68 wind assisted made the showdown at Berlin exciting. It was there at Berlin where another new world record was set and show that Man can run this fast.

It is at sports where many can always see interesting things happening instantaneously and those are the moments sometimes worth remembering for. Though short but it takes a long time for the athletes to train and to produce such moments.

It was indeed an all exciting matches with challenges faced by World Championships. At this world badminton championships, former world no 1 has lost, some world badminton champion still reign and new champion formed. Zhou Mi the former world no 1 lost to China Xie Xingfang and the latter lost to Lu Lan a relatively new player compared to the two. The thing about them is that they are all from China.

At this game, China once again has swept many of the gold medals. Another thing to take note is that Lin Dan from China has become the first guy to win three titles in a row. They are after all fast and swift and this is the game they are really good at.

I am certainly for Malcolm Jenkins as my favorite corner back and player. Being a consensus All-American and winner of the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back as a senior at Ohio State is no mere feat.

In a game where the offensive rules, how about being at the mercy of charging bulls that have no eyes for defense but the touchdown line. Jenkins earns his respect by being the disciplined senior who ward off the offensive charges, taking their helmets off him.

To be consistently fearless and stopping bullets that come your way has won my admiration and attention for this 6 feet CB. My dream of winning an award has found the mentor and inspiration this season especially.

Holding the controlling role and rivals that gives no heed to defense in the corners will find themselves in desperate dismay as The New Orleans Saints will keep a clean sheet at the back and see themselves marching on to victory in this season's 2009 championship.
